This lot comprises two items: an Edwardian sterling silver bookmark and a silver-plated cigarette case. The bookmark features a flat blade with an embossed handle decorated with scrolling foliate and floral motifs. It is fitted with a green silk tassel. The handle bears a full set of English hallmarks including the maker mark L&S for Levi & Salaman, the anchor for Birmingham, the lion passant for sterling silver, and the date letter l for 1910. The cigarette case is of rectangular form with rounded corners and an engine-turned geometric pattern across the exterior. A small rectangular cartouche in the upper corner is engraved with a script monogram M. The interior is finished with a gilt wash and includes a hinged retaining arm. The interior is stamped with the maker mark F F within diamond lozenges followed by EPNS, and the rim is struck MADE IN ENGLAND.
Condition report:
Both items exhibit signs of age and use. The cigarette case shows tarnishing to the exterior and moderate wear to the gilded interior finish. The bookmark displays minor surface scratches and light tarnishing. The silk tassel is present and intact.
