A single-piece cocktail and display cabinet in the Queen Anne revival style, finished in figured walnut veneers. The upper section features a serpentine pediment above two side-by-side drop-down cocktail compartments. These compartments are fitted with mirrored back panels, while the base surfaces and inner faces of the flaps are inset with glass panels decorated with a gold-toned interlaced lattice pattern over a black ground. The lower section comprises a twin-door glazed display cabinet with shaped wooden astragal bars, glass shelving, and a patterned fabric backing. The unit is supported on short cabriole legs. Hardware includes ornate brass-toned swing handles to the upper section and a centrally located lock with key for the lower doors. This design is attributed to Turnidge of London.
Condition report:
The cabinet shows visible signs of age and wear consistent with use. Scuffing and finish loss are evident along the top edges, the horizontal moulding between the upper and lower sections, and around the edges of the drop-down flaps. One of the drop-down flaps appears slightly misaligned when open. The original hardware and glass panels are present.
