A decorative gemstone world globe featuring oceans inlaid with blue stone and landmasses formed from a mosaic of various semi-precious stones, including what appear to be jasper, jade, turquoise, and mother-of-pearl. Each country is represented by an individual cut stone, with printed labels for nations and major cities. The surface is detailed with inlaid brass-toned wire for lines of latitude and longitude. The globe is mounted within a brass-toned metal cradle featuring a full-circle graduated meridian and a wide horizon ring. The structure is supported by an ornate three-legged tripod stand with curved legs. A circular magnetic compass is integrated into the central hub of the base.
Condition report:
The gemstone inlay appears to be in good overall condition with no visible losses or missing pieces. The brass-toned metal frame and stand show signs of light oxidation, surface tarnish, and wear consistent with age and display. The functionality of the integrated compass has not been tested.
