A 925 silver tie clip of rectangular form manufactured by the silversmith S. J. Rose & Son. The front face features engine-turned decoration consisting of engraved foliate scrollwork on either side of a central blank rectangular cartouche. The reverse is fitted with a hinged spring-tension mechanism. The reverse is struck with a series of hallmarks comprising the maker mark S.J.R, the lion passant for sterling silver, the anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, and the date letter a for 1950. There is a further partially legible mark located beneath the date letter.
Condition report:
The clip is in good vintage condition. There is visible surface wear, light scratches, and oxidation in recessed areas consistent with age. The spring mechanism remains in working order.
