A collection of world coins, primarily comprising UK pre-decimal bronze denominations, housed in a vintage lithographed tin. The collection features pennies and halfpennies from the reigns of Queen Victoria, King George V, and King George VI. Obverse inscriptions include GEORGIVS V DEI GRA BRITT OMN REX FID DEF IND IMP, while the reverses feature the seated Britannia design. International coinage interspersed within the lot includes an Italian 1 Lira dated 1954, a scalloped-edge Indian coin featuring the Lion Capital of Ashoka, and a UK Elizabeth II commemorative crown. The coins are contained in a rectangular metal tin with a hinged lid depicting a cartoon elephant and a butterfly. The side of the tin is printed with the text: JOHN S. DERBYSHIRE AND SON LIMITED NOTTINGHAM ENGLAND.
Condition report:
The coins are in circulated condition, ranging from good to very fine. Notable defects include varying degrees of wear, surface scratches, heavy toning, and instances of green verdigris oxidation on the bronze issues. The tin shows signs of age including surface scratches, paint loss, and oxidation to the interior surfaces.
