This lot consists of three decorative elephant figurines of varying materials and sizes. The largest is a hand-formed art glass figurine featuring a grey-blue core encased in thick clear glass, executed in the sommerso technique and resembling designs by Wedgwood. The figurine features a raised, tapering trunk and a rounded body. The second is a smaller glass figurine, similarly executed in the sommerso style with a vibrant pink core encased in clear glass, in the manner of Murano glass production. The third item is a stylised elephant figurine with a matte red finish, carved from stone, possibly soapstone, featuring a minimalist, modern form. No maker marks, signatures, or labels are visible on any of the items.
Grey-blue glass elephant: Largest
Pink glass elephant: Medium
Red carved elephant: Smallest.
Condition report:
The pink glass elephant has a significant chip and loss to the tip of the trunk, resulting in a jagged, unpolished edge. The grey-blue glass elephant is in good overall condition; internal air bubbles (seeds) are present, which are characteristic of the hand-made glass process. The red carved elephant shows minor surface wear and small nicks consistent with handling and age.
