A United Kingdom 2020 commemorative 50-pence coin celebrating the work of Rosalind Franklin. The heptagonal cupro-nickel coin features a reverse design by David Knapton inspired by Photograph 51, the X-ray diffraction image used to identify the structure of DNA. The design includes the inscriptions ROSALIND FRANKLIN and DNA against a textured background. The coin is housed in its original themed presentation folder, which features a chemical structure and double-helix design. This folder is a limited edition release, hand-numbered 3841 on the reverse. The obverse bears the fifth definitive portrait of Elizabeth II.
Condition report:
Brilliant uncirculated. The coin exhibits full original mint lustre with no visible wear or handling marks. The presentation folder remains in excellent condition with crisp edges and no visible surface damage.
