A Mappin and Webb 18ct yellow gold quartz gentleman’s dress watch, originally presented as a long-service award. The watch features a silvered sunburst dial with applied gold-toned baton hour markers, a date aperture at the 3 o’clock position, and gold-toned baton hands. The circular 18ct gold case houses a Swiss quartz movement. The case back is engraved with the inscription 1987, ALAN BOOTH, 25 YEARS WITH, and the diamond-shaped logo for Tinsley Wire Industries Ltd (TWIL). The watch is mounted on its original Mappin and Webb black lizard-grain leather strap with a gold-plated pin buckle. This lot includes the original blue presentation box with the initials A.B. to the lid, the card outer sleeve, and the original guarantee document dated November 1987.
Case diameter: 34mm.
Condition report:
The watch is in good vintage condition, exhibiting light surface scratches to the 18ct gold case and acrylic crystal consistent with age and occasional wear. The dial is clean and shows no signs of significant ageing or damage. The leather strap is well-preserved. The quartz movement is currently untested; it may require a new battery to restore functionality.
