Description
This oil on canvas painting by W. J. Jones depicts a humorous, naive-style scene of an older, portly man sleeping on a wooden garden bench. The subject is wearing a white shirt with braces, blue trousers, and brown shoes. He is shown clutching a beer can, with two further cans and a copy of The Sun newspaper on the ground. A black and white collie-type dog is asleep on the path, and a small bird perches on the backrest of the bench. The scene is set against a thick green hedge under a blue sky with white clouds. The work is signed W. J. JONES. in the lower-left corner and is presented in a white-painted multi-tiered wooden frame.

Condition report:
The painting is in good overall condition. A small surface mark is visible in the upper-left area of the sky. There are no signs of paint loss, craquelure, or restoration. The frame shows some minor surface wear and light scuffing consistent with age.
