Description
A square decorative hardwood box featuring a hinged lid with hand-carved geometric and foliate borders. The lid’s central panel is plain, surrounded by concentric bands of carved chevrons and stylized leaf patterns. The box is fitted with a simple metal clasp featuring a heart-shaped escutcheon and is secured by two internal metal hinges. The wood shows a visible grain throughout. No visible maker’s marks or inscriptions are present.
30cm x 30cm x 11.5cm.
Condition report:
Minor surface wear and abrasions consistent with age and use. Internal staining and marks visible to the base of the interior. Hinges and clasp remain functional.
