Description
A Venetian amber glass vase featuring an intricate 925 silver overlay. The vessel is constructed of hand-blown honey-coloured glass with a wide baluster-shaped body, short neck, and flared rim. The exterior is encased in a detailed 925 silver pierced and embossed cagework. The decorative scheme centres on a grapevine motif with clusters of grapes and textured leaves, interspersed with scrolling foliate patterns. A prominent circular medallion with a lattice geometric design is situated on the lower portion of the body. The rim is finished with a scalloped silver collar, and the base is supported by a matching pierced silver foot. No maker’s marks or hallmarks are visible in the provided images. The piece exhibits characteristics associated with mid-20th century Italian decorative glass production.
Condition report:
The glass is in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or significant abrasions. A dark glass inclusion or manufacturing fold is present on the interior of the top rim. The 925 silver overlay shows surface tarnish and a light patina consistent with age, but remains structurally sound and securely attached to the glass body.
