Description
A collection of decorative ceramic and porcelain items featuring a large sculpture of a cheetah and cub climbing a tree, attributed to or in the style of artist Miranda Smith. The cheetahs are depicted with realistic spotted coats and are mounted to a textured tree trunk form on a dark circular base. The lot also includes a white glazed porcelain figurine of a standing ferret; a contemporary white ceramic teapot decorated with a grey botanical branch motif; a large, bulbous stoneware studio pottery jug featuring a mottled cream and brown glaze; a shell-moulded ceramic dish decorated with hand-painted red poppy flowers and a green scalloped rim; and a small selection of tea ware comprising two saucers and one cup, featuring a transfer-printed pheasant and a geometric checkered border. Construction techniques include slip-casting, transfer printing, and hand-glazing.
Cheetah sculpture height: approximately 32 cm
Stoneware jug height: approximately 20 cm
Teapot height: approximately 14 cm.
Condition report:
The collection is in generally good condition. No significant chips, cracks, or restorations are visible to the cheetah figurine or the ferret. The teapot, shell dish, and stoneware jug appear sound. Minor surface wear and fine glaze crazing are present on the pheasant patterned tea ware consistent with age and use.
