Description
A vintage costume jewellery brooch associated with the British retailer H. Samuel. The piece is designed as a stylized leaf or feather, constructed from gold-tone base metal with a combination of brushed and polished finishes. The design features a series of curved, openwork ribs radiating from a central spine. Set along this spine is a row of eleven circular, faceted paste stones. Ten of these stones are amber in colour, while one stone positioned toward the centre-right is clear or grey. The brooch is presented in a green velvet-lined retailer’s box containing a red and white label printed with H. Samuel for Fine Jewellery. No maker’s marks are visible on the front of the item.
Condition report:
The brooch is in good vintage condition with some surface wear and light oxidation to the gold-tone finish consistent with age. One paste stone is a different colour from the rest, indicating it is likely a later replacement. The box shows minor wear to the exterior and interior lining.
