Description
A vintage cast aluminium nutcracker in the form of a squirrel, identified by the pattern name Davy Crackit. The piece is designed in a naturalistic style with the squirrel seated upon a rectangular base that features cast bark-like texture. The mechanism operates via a lever action, where the squirrel’s tail serves as the handle to actuate the hinged jaw. The construction consists of two cast halves joined by a single slotted steel screw pivot. The surface has a polished finish with cast details representing fur and facial features. This design was widely distributed by manufacturers such as Norpro and RSVP during the mid-20th century.
