Lot 255:
Description
This specimen features a polished half-section of an ammonite fossil, likely of the genus Cleoniceras, originating from Madagascar. The fossil is permanently suspended within a solid, clear rectangular acrylic block, allowing for a three-hundred-and-sixty-degree view. One face of the fossil is polished to reveal the internal chambers, known as septa, which have been mineralised with translucent brown and honey-coloured calcite crystals. The reverse side displays the natural outer shell of the specimen. One vertical edge of the acrylic block is etched with the text madagascarammoniteart.com. A small white rectangular sticker with the handwritten inventory number 946 is present on the lower front face.
Condition report:
The specimen and its acrylic housing are in excellent condition. The acrylic remains clear with well-defined, polished edges and no significant scratches or chips visible. The fossil details are sharp and well-preserved within the resin.
