Lot 169:
Description
A set of 925 silver knives, likely intended for tea or butter service. Each knife features a handle with a lobed and scalloped design and a rounded blade. The handles are struck with British hallmarks including the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the lion passant indicating .925 sterling silver, and the lowercase date letter h for the year 1900. The maker’s marks are present but are heavily rubbed and illegible. The knives are housed in their original fitted presentation case, which features a blue velvet-lined base and a ruched white satin-lined lid.
Condition report:
The silver handles and blades show minor surface scratches and a natural patina consistent with age and light use. The hallmarks on the handles are partially rubbed. The presentation case shows external wear and scuffing, and the interior lining exhibits some foxing and age-related discolouration.
