Description
A George V 925 sterling silver lidded tankard designed in the Queen Anne style manufactured by Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders and James Francis Hollings. The tankard comprises a tapered cylindrical body with a reeded base and a flat-topped hinged lid with a projecting flared rim. The lid is fitted with a cast scrolled thumbpiece and the vessel features a large scroll handle ending in a heart-shaped terminal. The item is hallmarked on the body and the lid with the Chester assay office mark of three garbs and a sword, the lion passant for sterling silver, and the lowercase date letter s indicating the year 1918. The maker mark CS is struck within a shaped punch.

Condition report:
The item is in good condition with visible surface tarnishing and light surface scratches consistent with its age and use. No significant dents, splits, or signs of previous repair are observed. The hinge mechanism is in working order.
