Lot 129:
Description
A group of decorative earthenware table accessories featuring pastoral village scenes with timber-framed cottages and lush greenery under a blue sky. The collection includes a square-form biscuit barrel with four bracket feet, a silver-plated rim, a domed lid with a central finial, and a curved bail handle. Also included is a matching square-form open bowl with a silver-plated rim and a small cylindrical condiment pot with a silver-plated lid and a small spoon, presented on a silver-plated saucer with a beaded edge. The lot is accompanied by a silver-plated serving spoon featuring a three-tined fork-like tip and a small cast brass bell with a handle modelled as a ship’s steering wheel. The ceramic pieces exhibit a style associated with mid-20th-century British potteries such as Crown Devon or Carlton Ware.
Condition report:
The ceramic items appear in good condition with no chips or cracks visible, though fine surface crazing is present throughout the glaze. All silver-plated components show significant tarnish and an iridescent patina. The brass bell displays signs of oxidation consistent with age and use.
