Description
A carved and painted wooden figure of an anthropomorphic pig, designed in the style of early 20th-century butcher shop advertising displays. The figure is depicted in a jaunty standing pose with legs crossed at the ankles. It is dressed in formal attire comprising a red jacket with green trim and painted button details, a white cravat, and green trousers. The head and integral circular base are finished to show the natural wood grain.
Base diameter: approximately 12 cm.
Condition report:
The figure exhibits a prominent vertical split or shrinkage crack running through the wood on the right side of the face. There is visible surface wear, scuffing, and paint loss throughout the piece, most notably on the raised edges of the jacket, trousers, and base. Small chips and indentations are present around the perimeter of the wooden base. The item remains structurally stable.
