Lot 40:
Description
A collection of assorted walking sticks and canes featuring various materials and handle styles, consistent with British manufacture from the late 19th to mid-20th century. The group includes a dark-stained wooden stick with an integral crook handle and natural growth nodes along the shaft, possibly ash. A second light-toned wooden stick features a crook handle and a mottled grain pattern. Also included is a bamboo walking stick with a crook handle and a decorative carved cap featuring a repeating circular scale motif. Another example consists of a straight wooden shaft, likely oak or ash, with a carved pommel handle decorated with geometric and floral patterns, joined by a polished, unmarked white metal collar. The collection also contains a wooden stick with an integral rounded pommel handle and a rustic, irregular lower shaft.
Condition report:
The items are in good used condition consistent with age and use. There is minor surface wear, darkening of the wood on the crook curves, and light scuffing throughout the shafts. The white metal collar on the carved pommel stick remains bright. No significant structural damage or breaks are visible.
