Description
This Royal Stafford bone china service is decorated in the Yellow Tea Rose pattern, featuring vibrant yellow rose blooms and smaller buds with orange highlights set against green and grey foliage. The pieces are crafted from white bone china with scalloped rims and hand-applied gold gilding. The underside of the pieces bears a green printed factory mark consisting of the words Royal Stafford in an arch over a crown, with Bone China and Made in England below. Hand-painted decorator marks, including a brown character resembling a capital H and a yellow flourish, are also present. The service comprises a large scalloped-edge cake plate, a collection of tea plates, a collection of saucers, several teacups, a milk jug, a shell-shaped handled serving dish, a footed sugar bowl, and a pair of salt and pepper shakers.
Condition report:
The footed sugar bowl is in poor condition with significant cracks and evidence of previous repair. The remaining pieces are in generally good condition with light wear to the gilded rims and minor surface scratches consistent with age and domestic use. Some pieces may exhibit minor manufacturing flecks.
