Description
A collection of UK silver coins comprising various denominations including sixpences and threepences. The group features several examples of Queen Victoria coinage with Young Head, Jubilee Head, and Veiled Head portraits. Obverse legends include VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITANNIAR: REG: F: D: and VICTORIA DEI GRA BRITT REGINA FID DEF. Reverse designs include the crowned SIX PENCE within a wreath and the crowned numeral 3 flanked by dates. Notable dates observed include 1897, 1903, 1916, and 1920. The collection also includes George V coins with the obverse inscription GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX. A significant portion of the coins shows evidence of being used as jewellery charms, including drilled suspension holes and solder marks.
Total weight approx. 55 grams silver.
Condition report:
The coins are in worn, circulated condition, ranging from good to fine. Significant rubbing is present on the higher points of the portraits and relief. Most examples exhibit dark tarnish and heavy toning. Multiple coins have been physically modified for use in jewellery, featuring drilled holes or residual mounting marks.
