Lot 312:
Description
An early 20th-century Art Deco oak mantel clock of Napoleon Hat form, manufactured by the Hamburg American Clock Company. The oak case features applied carved decorative motifs in the Art Deco style and a stepped base with a carved geometric zig-zag border, raised on metal bun feet. The circular silvered dial is set behind a convex glass door and features black Arabic numerals with three winding holes. Two selection levers are located at the top of the dial for Chime/Silent and Westminster/Whittington chime selection. The rear movement plate is stamped with the crossed arrows trademark of the Hamburg American Clock Company (Hamburg-Amerikanische Uhrenfabrik), alongside incised characters 14cm and 175. The mechanical eight-day triple train movement strikes on a series of internal chime rods.
Condition report:
The clock is in good aesthetic condition with minor age-related wear to the oak case. The movement appears complete; however, the pendulum and winding key are not present. The item is sold as untested and may require professional servicing to return to full working order.
