Description

This collection comprises an assortment of antique utility glass, primarily consisting of chemist, beverage, and apothecary bottles from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The lot includes an aqua mineral water bottle embossed with Cassell and Elliott Limited Aveley and a central circular logo featuring the letter K. A second aqua bottle is embossed with C.B. and W.H. Ltd Wine London and includes the phrase Not to be sold near the base. The group features a rectangular emerald green bottle with a short neck and rounded flanged lip, a form typically associated with apothecary or poison storage. Also included is a frosted satin glass shade or bowl with an embossed foliate and scroll decorative rim and a metal mount. The remaining items consist of various small aqua and clear glass bottles in cylindrical and rectangular forms, characteristic of Victorian and Edwardian food and medicine containers. These pieces are mold-blown with tooled or applied finishes and exhibit smooth bases consistent with post-1860 manufacture.

Condition report:

The collection is in as-found condition. Most pieces show internal clouding, mineral residue, and surface haze typical of excavated glass. Surface dirt and minor abrasions are present. Small flea-bite chips are visible on some rims, though no significant cracks or large structural chips are noted. One bottle retains a cork stopper.
