Description

A collection of mid-to-late 20th-century costume jewellery and accessories contained within a maritime-themed fabric-covered box. The rectangular box is divided into three compartments and features a cream fabric exterior printed with black nautical silhouettes of historical sailing ships and figures, in the style of the 1929 Sunday Afternoon Buckbee Brehm prints. The jewellery includes a large five-petaled green enamelled flower brooch set with a central cluster of iridescent Aurora Borealis rhinestones. The lot also contains a chunky bead necklace featuring large oval-shaped resin beads in dark red, amber, and green tones, including a tiger’s eye-style bead. Metalware includes a wide polished gold-tone hinged bangle with a decorative buckle motif, a silver-tone charm bracelet with a mother-of-pearl disc, and several gold-tone curb and fancy link chains. The collection is further comprised of a circular gold-tone filigree brooch and an assortment of gold-tone and enamelled clip-on and stud earrings. The pieces are unsigned costume items. An internal inventory label marked H 305-102 is present.
Brooch diameter: approx. 7cm.

Condition report:

The jewellery is in good vintage condition overall. Metal finishes on the buckle bangle and chains show minor surface scuffing and light wear consistent with age. The enamel on the flower brooch is intact and all rhinestones are present. The fabric box shows age-related wear, including staining and foxing to the interior lid and outer edges.
