Lot 203:
Description
A large collection of postcards and photographic ephemera spanning the early to late 20th century. The lot contains a diverse range of subjects including British and international topographical views, architectural landmarks, historic ruins, and art reproductions. Included within the group are two black and white real photographic postcards (RPPCs) depicting a substantial hillside castle ruin in the style of Corfe Castle, Dorset. The collection also features a large-format colour postcard of a classical Venetian church on a canal side, resembling a Palladian structure such as Il Redentore. Other items include various mid-20th-century colour topographical postcards of urban and coastal scenes, and art reproduction cards including a portrait of a woman in a circular frame. The items are uncollated and housed in stacks and clear plastic bags.
Condition report:
The items are in mixed vintage condition. Visible issues include corner bumping and light edge wear consistent with age and handling across various stacks. Older black and white photographic prints show characteristic curling and silvering. A large-format card at the base of the collection shows a significant corner fold and crease. As the lot is uncollated, there is potential for light foxing or adhesive residue to some examples.
