Description
A mid-20th century glass decanter set attributed to Murano, Italy, comprising a decanter with stopper and six matching liqueur glasses. The set is constructed from transparent turquoise-blue glass decorated with silver overlay, also known as silver deposit. The decanter features a tapered body with a thickened base and a silver-toned collar, decorated with stylised floral motifs, scrolling foliage, and a bird. It is complete with a matching blue glass stopper featuring a pointed finial and silver-toned band. The six glasses are of flared bucket form with weighted footed bases and silver-toned rims, displaying corresponding silver patterns.
Condition report:
The set remains in good condition. There is minor surface tarnishing and light wear to the silver overlay on the rims and raised areas consistent with age and domestic use. No chips, cracks, or evidence of repair are visible. The stopper appears original to the piece.
