Description
A collection of five UK commemorative bi-metallic two pound coins. The group comprises: a 2016 William Shakespeare Tragedies coin with a crown and dagger design; a 2007 Abolition of the Slave Trade coin featuring the date 1807 and a chain link; a 2015 First World War Royal Navy battleship coin; a 2016 First World War Army coin with a stylized geometric design; and a 2004 Richard Trevithick steam locomotive coin. Each coin is composed of a nickel-brass outer ring and a cupro-nickel inner core with a milled edge. Inscriptions include WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE 2016, AN ACT FOR THE ABOLITION OF THE SLAVE TRADE 2007, THE FIRST WORLD WAR 1914-1918, and R. TREVITHICK 1804 INVENTION INDUSTRY PROGRESS 2004. These coins were issued by the Royal Mint to commemorate significant British historical events and figures.
Condition report:
The coins exhibit signs of light to moderate circulation wear. Surface details show fine scratches and small rim nicks. Lustre varies across the group with some light toning present.
