Description
A set of four legal tender fifty-pence coins issued by the Falkland Islands in 2017 and struck by the Pobjoy Mint. The collection is presented in its original illustrated themed folder titled PENGUINS A FOUR COIN SET FROM THE FALKLAND ISLANDS. Each coin is struck in cupro-nickel with a diamond finish and features an equilateral-curve heptagonal shape. The obverses display the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with the legend FALKLAND ISLANDS ELIZABETH II and the date 2017. The reverses depict four distinct species: the Rockhopper Penguin, King Penguin, Gentoo Penguin, and Magellanic Penguin, each with the species name and the denomination FIFTY PENCE. The set includes a printed certificate of authenticity stating a limited mintage of 7,500, bearing the signatures of Mint Master Taya Pobjoy and Financial Secretary Lydia Morrison. The coins are housed in individual protective plastic capsules within the presentation pack.
Condition report:
The coins appear to be in original as-issued uncirculated condition, protected within capsules. The presentation folder shows minor shelf wear and light scuffing to the exterior edges.
