Description
A reconstituted stone garden ornament modelled as a traditional Japanese Rankei-style lantern. The structure comprises a circular tiered base with a textured cross-hatched finish, from which a curved cantilevered support arm rises. The hexagonal light chamber is decorated with relief scrollwork and contains vertical rectangular apertures. The piece is surmounted by a pitched pagoda-style roof with a rounded finial. A circular relief emblem depicting a stylised floral motif is located on the side of the light chamber. The item is manufactured from cast concrete.

Condition report:
The lantern is in a heavily weathered condition consistent with long-term outdoor exposure. There is a significant accumulation of lichen, moss, and surface dirt across all components. Minor chips and surface erosion are visible to the edges of the roof and the base. The structure remains sound.
