Description
A mantel clock set into a large, cross-sectioned ammonite fossil. The piece features polished surfaces that reveal internal chambers filled with pale crystalline deposits. The inset clock has a white dial with black Roman numerals and a gold-toned bezel; the dial is marked with the letters QUARTZ, indicating a quartz movement. The specimen is mounted on its own natural, unpolished stone matrix which provides a stable, flat base. The reverse of the piece displays the rough-hewn natural texture of the fossil matrix and bears a small paper lot sticker with the handwritten numbers 946.
Condition report:
The item appears to be in good condition, with natural inclusions and textures characteristic of the fossil material. The quartz movement is untested.
