Description
A vintage English coopered oak biscuit barrel of traditional barrel form. The body is constructed from dark-stained oak staves featuring horizontal carved grooves. The piece is fitted with chrome-plated metal components including a top rim, a base ring, and a removable lid topped with a small knob finial. A blank shield-shaped metal plaque is pinned to the front of the barrel. The item is equipped with a swinging metal bail handle attached to the upper rim. No maker marks or inscriptions are visible on the exterior surfaces.
Condition report:
The item is in good condition consistent with age and use. There are minor surface scratches to the oak body and light oxidisation and surface wear to the chrome-plated metal fittings.
