Description
A hand-carved wooden elephant figurine, possibly of Indian or Southeast Asian origin. The item is constructed from a medium-toned wood with a lustrous finish. It is accented with metal strapwork and tacks that form a decorative saddlecloth on the back and bands around the legs. The figure features two inset tusks of a light-coloured material and a trunk curled at the tip. No manufacturer marks, labels, or country of origin stamps are apparent on the visible surfaces.
Height: 11.5 inches.
Condition report:
The figurine shows a significant vertical split to the frontal area of the head. There is minor surface scuffing and wear around the base of the legs and feet consistent with age and handling.
