Description
A collection of UK silver coinage comprising various denominations including sixpence and threepence. The group includes issues from the reigns of Queen Victoria and King George V. Visible dates include 1886, 1897, 1906, 1916, and 1920. Obverse portraits feature the Victoria Young Head, Jubilee Head, and Veiled Head types, as well as the portrait of George V. Inscriptions include VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D: and GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX. Reverse designs include the crowned numeral 6, the text SIX PENCE, and the crowned numeral 3 within oak or laurel wreaths, alongside heraldic shield types. The coins are composed of sterling silver (.925 fineness) for pre-1920 issues and .500 silver for the 1920 issue.
Condition report:
The collection is in heavily circulated condition, ranging from poor to fine. Most pieces exhibit significant surface wear, loss of detail, and heavy dark toning. A substantial number of the coins have been pierced with small holes for use as jewellery or charms. Surface marks, scratches, and edge nicks are present throughout the group.
