Description
A military-style bayonet, in the style of a German pattern short dress bayonet, likely dating from the mid-20th century. The item features a single-edged steel blade with a fuller and a clip-point tip. The hilt consists of a metal crossguard and a rounded pommel with a mounting mechanism, fitted with wooden grips secured by two screws. One side of the wooden grip has been hand-carved with a geometric starburst or cross-hatched motif, suggesting personal modification or trench art. The metal scabbard has a darkened finish with a metallic locket and chape. The assembly is completed by a brown leather frog.

Condition report:
The item is in aged condition, showing surface oxidation and patina on the metal components. There is visible wear to the wooden hilt. The leather frog shows significant scuffing and cracking consistent with age and use.
