Description
A pair of framed advertising mirrors featuring maritime subjects. The larger mirror displays a steamship under sail with a blue hull and white sails, flanked by two compass roses and a decorative frosted border. It contains the text Oriental Steam Navigation Company on a scroll banner and is set within a dark-stained wood frame. The smaller mirror depicts a paddle steamer and bears the text Louisiana Steamboat Company Founded 1889, listing port cities including St. Louis, Memphis, Greenville, Natchez, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans. This piece is presented in a light-coloured wood frame. Both items consist of printed glass within wooden frames.
Large mirror: 51 cm x 41 cm
Small mirror: 31 cm x 21 cm.
Condition report:
Both items show minor surface wear to the wooden frames. The larger mirror exhibits foxing and some degradation to the silvering, primarily along the lower section.
