Description
A Second World War trench art style brass model of a Supermarine Spitfire fighter aircraft. The model is cast from a yellow metal alloy and features a three-bladed propeller with stylised detailing to the fuselage and wing undersides. The aircraft is elevated upon a dark-stained rectangular wooden plinth, secured by a threaded metal rod and nut.
Condition report:
The model displays a mature patina across the brass surfaces, with visible pitting and oxidation commensurate with age. The wooden plinth shows signs of surface wear and contains four small holes to the upper face where a plaque was formerly attached.
