Description
A group of British military campaign medals, bar-mounted for wearing. The collection comprises a bronze 1914-15 Star with a central wreath inscribed 1914-15; a British War Medal featuring the profile of King George V and the legend GEORGIVS V BRITT:OMN:REX ET IND:IMP:; a Victory Medal depicting a winged figure of Victory; and an India General Service Medal (1908) in silver. The India General Service Medal is fitted with four clasps inscribed NORTH WEST FRONTIER 1930-31, WAZIRISTAN 1921-24, MAHSUD 1919-20, and AFGHANISTAN N.W. FRONTIER 1919. The reverse of the India General Service Medal shows the profile of George V with the inscription GEORGIVS V KAISAR-I-HIND. The medals are suspended from multi-coloured silk ribbons attached to a metal mounting bar with a pin and hook fastening.
Condition report:
The medals exhibit surface scratches, tarnishing, and general signs of age-related wear consistent with use. The silk ribbons show fraying and wear, particularly to the edges. The mounting bar shows some oxidation but remains in stable condition.
