A collection of British commemorative medals, tokens, and a weight. The group includes a white metal medal for the Centenary of Sunday Schools in Sheffield (1880) with a Robert Raikes obverse and a biblical scene reverse; a bronze Captain James Cook commemorative medal; and a Co-operative Wholesale Society (C.W.S.) Jubilee medal (1863-1913) with a John Shillito obverse. Also present is a brass Daniel O’Connell political token, an apothecaries’ two dram weight marked 3ij, and a George III spade guinea-style brass gaming token dated 1771. The lot further contains a Grace Darling commemorative medalet, a 1974 Edinburgh medal, and several heavily worn or corroded copper-alloy tokens and coins.


Condition report:

Condition ranges from poor to good. The Sheffield Sunday School medal is pierced for suspension with an attached ring. The Daniel O\'Connell token is also pierced. Several copper-alloy pieces exhibit heavy oxidation, surface corrosion, and significant wear. The Captain Cook and C.W.S. medals show moderate surface wear and toning.
