Lot 306:
Description
A McDonald’s Happy Meal promotional point-of-sale counter display for the 1996 Disney animated feature film The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The unit is constructed from die-cut printed cardboard and features a multi-dimensional backdrop depicting Notre Dame Cathedral, festival tents, and a Parisian crowd. The display includes five mounted moulded plastic promotional figures: Esmeralda, Judge Claude Frollo, Quasimodo, Captain Phoebus, and a three-character group of the Gargoyles (Victor, Hugo, and Laverne). The Gargoyles figure is mounted on a grey stone-effect base with an integrated manual plastic thumbwheel mechanism. The lower section of the display features promotional text and a graphic of a Happy Meal box. The item is marked McDonald’s Happy Meal at the top and bears the copyright marks © McDonald’s Corp. © Disney at the lower right corner.
Condition report:
The cardboard structure shows moderate age-related wear, including creasing to the corners, minor scuffing along the edges, and some structural softening at the base. The five plastic figures retain good colour and remain securely attached to the display. The manual thumbwheel mechanism on the Gargoyles figure is intact and functional.
