Description
A pair of mid-20th-century Lieberman and Gortz Vistar 16×50 binoculars. The instrument features a Porro prism design with a metal body finished in black lacquer and a black pebbled-texture wrap for grip. It includes a central focusing wheel and an adjustable right eyepiece for diopter correction. The left prism cover is marked 16 X 50 and VISTAR. The right prism cover is marked LIEBERMAN & GORTZ. The central focus wheel is marked 16×50 and includes a numerical scale. The binoculars are housed in a fitted brown leather carrying case with a buckle fastening and a leather shoulder strap. The case is lined with a deep purple velvet-style fabric and the exterior is stamped MADE IN ENGLAND.
Condition report:
The central focusing mechanism and diopter adjustment move smoothly. Lenses appear intact with no significant fungal growth or heavy scratching visible on the external surfaces. Internal cleanliness and collimation have not been professionally tested. The binoculars show minor signs of age and use, including light wear to the black lacquer on the raised edges. The leather case shows surface scuffing and age-related wear, but the stitching remains secure. Objective lens caps are not present.
