Description
This cocktail stirrer or swizzle stick is crafted from 925 silver and features a decorative dragon motif. The item consists of a cylindrical 925 silver rod with a cast figure of a crawling dragon applied to the upper half of the shaft. The dragon is depicted with a textured scaly body, dorsal spines, and a horned head with an open mouth holding a small ring. The terminal end of the stirrer features a polished spherical knob with an inset white cabochon at the tip, likely mother-of-pearl. The opposite end of the rod is flat and undecorated. The stem is struck with a full set of British hallmarks including the maker mark JBP for John Bull Ltd, the lion passant for sterling standard, the leopard head for the London Assay Office, and the date letter u for the year 1994.
Condition report:
The 925 silver shows a natural aged patina with dark tarnish present in the recessed areas of the dragon casting and around the hallmark punches. There are no significant dents, bends, or structural damages visible. The inset cabochon is intact and secure in its setting.
