Lot 202:
Description
An Art Deco mantel clock featuring an arched oak case with applied decorative motifs and a zig-zag carved border to the base. The circular silvered dial displays black Arabic numerals, a rail-track minute ring, and three winding apertures. A selector lever located at the top of the dial allows for Silent, Whittington (marked WHITT), and Westminster (marked WESTM) chime settings. The mechanical eight-day movement is stamped on the backplate with 1, 4, c, m and 1, 7, 6, below which is a circular maker’s mark and the inscription MADE IN GERMANY. The movement strikes on a row of horizontal chime rods. The case is raised on metal bun feet.
Condition report:
The clock is in an untested condition and is missing its pendulum and winding key. There is minor wear to the case finish and the silvered dial, consistent with the age of the piece.
