Description
A contemporary oil painting on canvas, being a study after Rembrandt van Rijn’s 1655 portrait Titus at his Desk. The work depicts a youth in a pensive pose at a writing desk, executed in a chiaroscuro style. The painting is signed to the lower right in a cursive script, appearing to read V. Hooijer, and dated 2010. The canvas is mounted upon a wide, rustic wooden frame with a hand-hewn adzed texture and undulating edges, held in place by six decorative square-headed black metal studs.
Frame: 33cm x 33cm.
Condition report:
Minor surface wear to the canvas, including a small red mark near the top of the figure\'s head. The frame shows natural variations in the wood and minor scuffs consistent with its rustic style.
