Description
A Charles II style lidded tankard constructed from 925 silver. The piece features a tapering cylindrical body set upon a moulded base, with a tiered, flat-topped lid. It is designed with a substantial scroll handle terminating in a heart-shaped shield and is fitted with a cast thumbpiece. The body and lid bear a series of English hallmarks, including the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard’s head for the London assay office, and the date letter S. A maker’s mark, identified as CS, is present on the lid.
Condition report:
The tankard displays significant surface tarnishing and minor age-related wear, including superficial scratches. It remains in good structural condition.
