Description
A Nepalese Gurkha kukri knife set, 20th century. The set comprises a traditional curved steel blade featuring etched foliate patterns and a traditional cho notch at the base, with faint inscriptions visible near the spine. The hilt is composed of a dark polished material, possibly horn, accented with silver-toned metal bands and small circular inlays. It is accompanied by a matching companion knife. The scabbard is constructed from black leather over a wooden core, decorated with incised geometric patterns and fitted with a decorative pierced metal throat featuring scrollwork and a metal chape.
Kukri length: approximately 29 cm.
Condition report:
The steel blades exhibit visible tarnish, surface oxidation, and pitting. The hilt shows minor surface wear and scratches. The leather scabbard displays abrasions, scratches, and surface wear consistent with age, with tarnish present on the metal fittings.
