Description
This vintage wooden fire screen contains a central decorative crewel embroidery panel protected by glass. The hand-worked panel depicts a multi-colour floral bouquet featuring blossoms in shades of blue, purple, red, and yellow, accented by green foliage and small orange berries set against a neutral beige fabric ground. The square wooden frame is detailed with small brass-tone metal corner brackets and is supported by a trestle-style base with two curved feet. The reverse shows a secondary wood backing secured within the frame.
Condition report:
The piece shows signs of age and use, including visible water staining and discolouration along the bottom edge of the fabric panel. Minor surface scuffs and abrasions are present on the wooden components and base.
