Description
A Chinese blue and white porcelain ginger jar of globular form with a matching domed lid. The vessel is decorated in the prunus pattern, featuring white plum blossoms reserved against a vibrant cobalt blue ground. A scalloped white border is positioned at the shoulder. The unglazed base retains an original printed paper label from The Chinese Merchandise Emporium, Ltd., identifying the item as a China Product originally containing Ginger in Syrup, with corresponding Chinese characters. A small white adhesive inventory sticker with the handwritten number 976 is also present on the underside.
Condition report:
The jar and lid are in good overall condition with a glossy finish. Minor surface wear and typical discoloration are visible on the unglazed foot ring.
