Lot 19:
Description
A Royal Cauldon Bristol Ironstone ginger jar with matching lid, decorated in the classic blue and white Willow transferware pattern. The Chinoiserie design features a landscape with pagodas and architectural motifs. The base carries a blue underglaze mark with a crown logo, identifying the piece as Royal Cauldon Bristol Ironstone Willow and stating it was Made especially for R. Twining & Co. Ltd. by Englands Oldest Pottery Est 1652. The vessel is constructed of ironstone with a globular body and a domed cover.
Condition report:
The jar exhibits significant all-over crazing to the glaze on both the lid and body. There is visible surface staining and a hairline crack located on the lower-left portion of the main body. The unglazed base ring shows expected shelf wear and minor discolouration.
