Description

This framed work is a Chinese ink and wash painting on paper, depicting a horseman in a dynamic galloping pose. The composition features a figure in traditional dress astride a black and white horse, holding a long-barreled firearm. The piece is executed with fluid brushwork. A vertical calligraphic inscription on the left margin translates to Mounted Shooting, dated 1954, and includes a dedication to a Mr. Li Huicheng, accompanied by two red artist seals. The reverse of the frame features a multilingual label in Chinese, Russian, and German attributing the work to Xu Beihong (identified as Ju Peon), titled Horses. Additionally, a British framer’s label from Hunt’s of Godalming is present. The artwork is presented under glass in a white wooden frame with a dark green mount.
